I’ve worked with a guy that brought the same thing every day. Bologna, mustard, white bread, potato chips, a snack cake and a can of diet. Every single day. He said it made his grocery list shorter (true). I can’t handle that. I like a little variety, and occasionally a hot meal. With that in mind, I thought I’d see if any of you have a favorite job-site recipe that you’d like to share. My favorite wins a new Bosch 36618-01 18v drill.

Show Me Your… Boots

Got boots to rival these bad boys? Show 'em.

Got boots to rival these bad boys? Show 'em.

When “Red” Redding (Morgan Freeman) from the Shawshank Redemption  asks, “After all, how often do you look at a man’s shoes?” he was on to something. Unless you’re talking about the latest NBA footwear, no one really cares. But when you have boots this “unique,” even on the jobsite, they stand out. Do you have boots that rival these? Show me what you’ve got and I have a Bosch Daredevil spade bit three-pak, Bosch Multiconstruction five-piece set or a Bosch five-piece recip demo set.  Hey, maybe a sweetner. Send your entry by email to joethepro@contractor.net.

Good Blades Do Make a Difference – Handyman club of America Agrees

Posted on 18 February 2012 by Joe

I’ve put the Daredevil Framing Blade in a lot of people’s hands, and I’ve heard a lot of great things about it from them.  One of the best parts about my job is when I get to put awesome, brand new products in peoples hands.  Daredevil saw blades is one of those products.

During some of the field testing that we did before launching that blade, I heard lots of things like:

“This is the best blade I have ever used; I use a lot of blades in my profession. After a day of cutting treated 2 x 6s, the blade is still very sharp.” – Bruce Rutledge

It’s great to hear agreement from Handy Magazine, and the Handyman Club of America.  I’d like to hear a little more agreement from the readers here, so the first 25 readers who make a comment about what you expect out of a saw blade will get a free Daredevil saw blade.  I’ll contact the winners next week to get your shipping info.

5 tips to help you get the most out of your 2012 ad budget

Posted on 07 January 2012 by Darren Slaughter

I had a new client meeting last week where I was reviewing this year’s worth of ad campaigns to set a budget and strategy for 2012. As I sat with the owner and his marketing person I asked how each part of their marketing did as far as resultsprintdirect mailonline advertising, the website, everything.

I droned on and on through each campaign asking what results they got and not once could they come up with anything that resembled a reasonable answer. Now, I get it, most small businesses are barely holding on in this economy, but given that fact, I make sure to pay even more attention to my results for clients, not less.

But that was what I was there for

To help them realize that not tracking their results meant they had no idea where they were going, and that they had to go into the New Year with a fresh start, a new way of thinking. So we started by moving the budget around and away from some ad campaigns that targeted passively engaged shoppers at best, so it was still a good day. But having to start all over after a year’s worth of ad spend sucks.

So, here are 5 tips to help you get the most out of your 2012 ad budget Continue Reading
