This really is crazy. Is there a safety harness on this rig?
Working my way across a canyon using two wires is not my idea of a good time, but Elizabeth here from Tualatin, Ore., seems to get a kick out of it. And that makes her the week four winner of the Daredevil Work Hard, Play Hard contest. As she mentions in her entry, she made it across the void by “force of will.” That’s the spirit of the Daredevil – you know it’s a step beyond the norm, a push beyond the day-to-day, but you’re going to do it anyway. She takes away our combo Bosch power tool and accessory package, and Blaklader work wear prizes. Keep checking back at the contest page to see what’s new. There’s still a grand prize winner to be named and maybe little more in store.

Creativity comes in many forms – even foam. Frank Bovio from Sicklerville, NJ used that philosophy to win week two of the Work Hard, Play Hard challenge. I’m anticipating that his seven-foot man of foam is a hobby and not a business, but who knows. Maybe he’s found an underground market. And he mentioned that a foam man will actually reduce your carbon footprint and can provide company in the car pool lanes, so it’s a functional solution. Be sure to keep that creativity flowing in these final two weeks of competition. We’re looking for examples of people who put it “all in” whether they’re working on the job or playing hard at home. Are you a daredevil?

Great photography and death-defying high rise work made Dutch Purnell the week one winner for the Work Hard, Play Hard contest. His company, Base Group, works with coatings, paint and other protective coatings at height. Tall urban structures, bridges and even roller coasters are part of the company’s offering.
For his trouble, Dutch wins a Bosch cordless drill, accompanying Bosch accessories and a pair of Blaklader work pants. Now it’s your turn: We still have three more weeks of Work Hard, Play Hard for great prizes. So get your entry in today.
