Moving to the oscillating tool

Posted by BeThePro.com - 25 April 2011

You can find a lot of information about the oscillating tool category.  And you can find the tools in a lot of places: online, Home Depot, Lowe’s – even at Target or Meijer.  The tool is everywhere because it works.  The concept is solid – a single tool to cut, grind, scrape and sand (check out the Skil oscillating tool review). It can be used on wood, flooring and synthetic wood – a wide variety of building materials.

Bosch has brought added value to the category by developing an interface, an adapter that allows the company’s high-quality accessories to be used on virtually any brand of oscillating tool.  It’s an advantage both from the standpoint of always having a best-in-class accessory for your power tool, but also expanding the accessories available to you at the building products store.  So consider using an oscillating tool on your next job.  There’s no downside in having maximum functionality in a single tool.

Fine Wood Working add refered to a “free blade” @ bethepro.com, code: OISFW11.

I have the 12v Bosch tool and was a bit disappointed when I saw that a corded version was coming out. The cordless one is great but it does go through the batteries quickly.

Is there any chance that Bosch could make a AC adapter for those of us who are cordless?

I wish that was possible Patrick. I looked into the idea, but the adapter would be as big as a suitcase. I honestly believe they are both great tools, and that the corded tool is awesome, especially at the price that it’s at.

I have a mail card from you, offer refers to free multi-tool adapter from/by Bosch, at Bethepro.com using free offer code MS112, but – I cannot find it anywhere.

Bill: It’s in the Current Promotions box on the right-hand side of the home page. The offers rotate — one is Daredevil and the other is the OIS adapter. Thanks for checking us out! Joe
